A year of Firsts

Muppets - Animal in disguise
Wow, I haven't made an entry since mid-November. Time to change that.

This'll be the first year I can remember actually being able to afford to buy Xmas gifts for loved ones. I don't remember being able to when I worked at JCPenney, but now that I'm with Disney... things just came together and I'm suddenly feeling very grown up. I've been able to shop for my mother (she is super hard to shop for btw), father, brother and Wyn - as well as a few friends.

I'm planning to do a little something for the Rocky folks for Xmas. Maybe come baked goods for dinner scene or whatnot. Speaking of Rocky, it will also be my 1st year anniversary on cast come January. :) I can't believe it's already been a year! Snap.

It really has been a year of firsts. My first full year with Sins, my first year being able to spoil my loved ones with gifts, my first real love... it's been a good year - well, since the summer anyway. The year started out rough, but it's wrapping up quite nicely. As always, I'm glad to be alive.

I just realized... I should have been the Minister of Silly Walks for Halloween. It would've been perfect, and I would've gotten a sweet hat out of the deal. But this just means I have to put that outfit together for some weekend... along with another idea I have in the works.

I watched Dark Crystal for the first time tonight. For inexplicable reasons, Chamberlin was my favorite for the sole reason of him going "HMMMmmm" all the time. Otherwise, he's a douche. My official favorites were probably Kira and Fizzgig. Because they're awesome. Also, I thought the Mystics looked like giant fraggles.

Another thing... why the hell am I listening to Poker Face right now?

Sweet dreams are made of these...

Evil Dead II - the bird
... NOT.

What started out as an already weird Rocky dream, ended up being a weird mix between The Most Dangerous Game and Saw.  This weird lady living on some abandoned animal reserve had me and some other people trapped there.  She kept us in this caged in area that resembled one huge-ass baseball diamond.  At one point in the dream, to escape some evil fire ants, my group and I had to swing across this river thing to get away.  I of course fell in and nearly got my arm bitten off my an alligator.

Crazy.

I was awfully silly last night...

Rocky Horror - Hidden Tranny
... At least that's what I was told by a few people throughout the night.  I don't know what got me into such a silly mood, but it was just dandy.  Last night was also my first night DJ'ing.  I hope it went over well.

I was called upon to stand in for Take Over scene, which was totally cool.  It will probably be my only time doing Riff that I didn't have to wear the wig. :P  As I was walking down the aisle for my "big scene," someone called out "OH SHIT!  RIFF GREW TITS!" Which I found pretty funny.  Oh that Brian.  So... aside from some technical difficulties at the end of the show, I'd say things were pretty good.

I'm really looking forward to Halloween weekend at Rocky. :D  November also promises to be a fun month, not just at the show.  There's a wedding, Thanksgiving, and maybe a trip out to Neenach on the horizon.  Yay!

Lots of other stuff is going on too, but that will wait until later.

Because life is awesome

I can't wait for the sample for the Titanic rifftrax to come out. But I already know it will be wicked awesome.

Harold and Maude - hug
I was nearly late to work today.  My shift started at 7:30 this morning (which was gross because I was at Disneyland all day yesterday and didn't get home until 11 that night).  I woke up at 5 to get ready, but the bed was so comfy, I wanted to allow myself 5 more minutes.  When I woke up again, it was 6:42.  To sum it up: it was a mad dash to work, picking up my work clothes, changing, and clocking in.  I barely made it without being late.  Seriously, one more minute and I would've gotten in trouble.  But, what do you think happens when I go to get my booth assignment?  They say they don't know where to put me yet and send of off to put up the chains for other booths.  Why the HELL did I even show up that early if I was just going to wander around doing crap work?  It wasn't the best way to start off the morning, but things got better.  I got to talk with cute children and wish people a Happy Birthday.

I've been wearing Wyn's sweatshirt all day.  I put it on last night to sleep in.  And when I woke up late, I didn't have time to put something new on aside from a clean pair of jeans.  So I kept the sweatshirt on.  I'm still wearing it.  So comfy.  Eventually he'll get it back.  Eventually...

For the past two weeks I got to play Riff Raff at Sins.  It's been a blast so far being 3rd String.  And I rather like the new nickname that [info]holymonkey2021 bestowed upon me: Tits-Raff.  Because... well, you know.  And it's just funny :)

I really want a nap, but dinner is being prepared and will be ready soon.  Salmon loaf.  I am just so damn tired.  Disneyland really took a lot out of me on Sunday.  I took my family to the park for my dad's birthday and it was a lot of fun.  It was quite crowded, but we still got to do all that we wanted to AND see the new fireworks show.  A good day for all.

I think I might be Maude for Halloween and convince Wyn to be Harold.  Who knows.

Which reminds me... I need to give [info]queen_of_words her copy of Harold & Maude back.  And get back my dvd of Brazil.  A hostage trade-off is in order.

I got to ride Space Mountain before it opens (tomorrow) to the public.  It's all tricked out for the Halloween season.  It's pretty fun. :)  I won't say anymore, so I don't ruin it for anybody.  But definitely give it a go if you get to go to the park anytime between 9/25 - 11/1.

Peace.

One of those days

Monty Python - "Totally bizarre!"
Today was one of those days I really wished I lived closer to or in LA. All of of recent events require me to make many trips out to that area, and further north, so it's understandable that I should want to be closer to these places.  What whisks me back to reality is my job.  In Anaheim.  Regardless of where I lived, a long ass commute would always be in order.  That's what I want to avoid.  Sigh...

Today has been one of those days where I'm laying stretched out on my bed, staring up at the ceiling, listening to 60s/70s folk rock.  I'm grateful for these rare days of rest and laziness, but at the same time I get to restless and want something to do EVEN THOUGH I should really be using the time to take a breather for once.

I'm huge!

Arsenic and Old Lace - CHARGE!
I want one of these little guys so badly.  Why does eBay have to ask so much for a replica?

  • Rocky Vomit was awesome.  Everybody did fabulous! :D  I had fun being Emcee for the night.  I was so nervous, but made it through in one piece.  But I think I'll happily stick with my currents roles. :)
  • I finally got CR (part time) status at work.  Glad that I won't be going anywhere once the seasonal time is done.
  • I'm becoming more fond of the drive to Moorpark.  Especially the 118 fwy.  It's mighty pretty.  I wish I knew where my camera was, so I could take pictures of the drive.

So I'm trying to decide...

Pin up - Cowgirl
... What should I be for Halloween?

Gizmonic Institute employee or Temp worker who gets shot up into space (MST3K)
San, the wolf girl (Princess Mononoke)
Harpo Marx
Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop)
Ineffective grave robbing alien (Plan 9 From Outer Space)
Harold or Maude (Harold & Maude)
Janis Joplin
Janine Melnitz (the receptionist lady from Ghostbusters)

Evil Dead II - the bird
While cleaning my room today, I found a ticket from one of my first Rocky shows (it was probably my 3rd or so) - July 14 2007.  It was Grindhouse Night, if I'm not mistaken.  I missed out on a lot of the antics that night because I was tending to a friend in need.  It was a crazy night, believe you me.  Ah, such lovely memories.  Hard to believe that was over two years ago...

courtesy of Sins O' The Flesh

I've been walking around in my boyfriend's pants all this afternoon and I gotta say they're pretty comfy.  I may not give them back.  I've also got a sweatshirt of his around my room somewhere.  It is quite comfy as well.  But the pants are my favorite.

Before I got into his pants (ooh ya see what I did there), yesterday we watched the pilot episode of Star Trek.  I lost my shit when I saw Captain Pike.  I exclaimed "Oh shit, I think that's Martin Pawley!"  Because, you see, Jeffrey Hunter (aka Captain Pike) was in a little film called The Searchers with Mr. John Wayne back in 1956.  Jeffrey Hunter has these intense blue eyes that I could never forget.  Too bad he died only three years after he made the Star Trek pilot.

I'm slowly but surely introducing myself to the classic Star Trek series.
It's got a nostalgic charm I can't resist. :)

Deep dish

Cookie Monster
I need to visit Chicago sometime soon, if only just for some authentic deep dish pizza.  It is HEAVENLY, I tells ya.  My dad smuggled us back some from when he was in Chi-town for a business trip.  Clever, Daddy.  We had some more tonight, which was a nice surprise because I thought we didn't have anymore.

It seems that I'm always the designated "Keeper of Family Treasures" whenever things need to be moved or whatever.  For example, photos of my grandparents and photos from my parents' childhoods.  And the many patches my grandfather got for working on the different space missions while he worked for Rockwell.  All are safely tucked away in various places in my room, because I seem to be the only one who gives a damn about where these precious items are.

In regards to the whole room issue I mentioned in the previous entry, my bed is once again clear for me to sleep in.  Sleeping on the floor is all well and good, but I like my bed.  It has a mattress. :)

Bedroom camping... kind of.

Arsenic and Old Lace - CHARGE!
For the past few days, I've been sleeping on the floor at the foot of my bed in a sleeping bag.  The reason: the carpets in my house are going to be cleaned tomorrow morning (thankfully I'll be at work during this), and I don't want to be bothered to placed everything on my bed BACK onto the floor, only to have to put it back onto the bed for the carpet cleaners.  So, I'm sleeping on the floor.  I do miss having a mattress, or something soft to sleep on, but I'm dealing with it.  I just really don't want to deal with the crap on my bed.  Fuck it.  I'm able to have my phone and laptop nearby, so I'm entertained.

Harold and Maude - hug
Had my refresher course in Riff'ing yesterday.  Also filthied up my vest.  I can't wait for Saturday!  I'm so excited, yet nervous at the same time. :D

After that, I called Wyn up and asked if I could pick up my little red notebook.  I'd left it at his house awhile ago and forgot to ask him for it on Saturday.  So I drove out to Moorpark and ended up hanging out with him until 1am (and got home at 2:20am or so).  I love him. <3 He's so sweet!  We played Clue and watched Hogan's Heroes dvds.  (I know nothing! Nothing!).  It was great spending time with him.  Since, from Fullerton, I'm a good hour and 20 minutes away from Moorpark, usually I only get to see him on Saturdays or if I happen to have two consecutive days off from work.  And this Thurs/Fri will be one of those awesome two consecutive days.  Two days of awesome. :)  (We're going to be seeing Aliens at the Nuart on Friday.) I'm just glad I have a paying job so i can afford to drive out to Moorpark, Northridge, and/or Santa Monica as often as I do.  I miss him already.  At least I'll be seeing him Thursday.  HURRY UP AND GET HERE, THURSDAY, WILL YOU?

I have work tonight.  I should get done around 10:30 tonight, if not earlier.  Then some sleeeeeeep.  I need it.  This week hasn't been a good week for sleeping, haha.

I'm watching MST3K's "Santa Claus" to pass the time until I have to leave.
"ARE YOU READY TO BE MERRY?"

I decided to make an actual entry since I got rid of that damn Twittinesis crap.  I was getting sick of it, and I bet those who follow my LJ were getting sick of it too,  Plus, I changed my journal's layout.  I'm pleased with it.  Nothing much else to report on, other than I'm quite happy with life right now.  This is attributed to a few things.  One is the fact that I have a job (Disneyland, in the ticket booths) and the other reason is a guy.  He's amazing. <3

Rocky last night was fun.  But, I had work at 10 this morning.  So, getting home at 4am didn't help my situation when I had to get up at 8am.  BAD LINDSAY.  Ah, well.  I made it through the 6.5hr shift okay.  I was originally scheduled for a 11.5hr shift.  SHIIIIIIIIT.  Luckily, my lead took pity on me when she saw me kinda dozing against a wall while I was waiting for a contract to print.  Since there was going to be 2 extra people in the booth, she let me go early.  Yay!

Ok, time for sleep.  I have work at 8:30 in the morning.
